This is an example of a portrait done in Conte' crayon which is actually a chalk. It is done on Arches cover paper. The two are very achival and if taken care of, should last quite a few life times.

The drawing is 20"x20" approximately. I don't fix my work, I feel that it changes the feel and look of them.
